RD8100 Precision Locator
This is a discontinued product. Check out the new NEW RD8200
----------------------------------
Engineered to deliver high precision for damage prevention when locating buried cables and pipes.
Radiodetection RD8100, our most advanced precision line locator range equipment for sale, is built on this pedigree for performance, quality and durability. Containing a unique arrangement of 5 antennas, it allows you to choose the optimum level of precision for the job in hand. Integrated GPS and usage-logging options automatically generate data for customer reports, or in-house quality and safety audits to promote best working practices and locate utilities underground.
The RD8100 is our most advanced line locating and fault finding system. It possesses the capability to find up to a 2 meg fault, and can both locate and fault find at the same time using one simple hookup.
RD transmitters have a volt ohm meter to test all wires, saving time for the work crew and helping to restore service in a timely manner.
The receiver has an arrow locator which initially points to the fault and reverses once the fault has been passed. A compass works to orient the blades of the receiver to give the direction of your locate for either cables or pipes. The receiver also indicates if there are multiple faults down the line. Up to five antennas can be used, increasing the accuracy of your locate and fault find.
A simultaneous readout is provided for both depth and current. The current readout comes directly from the transmitter, not the signal strength, in order to help with bleed over effect. Depths of up to 20’ are provided in real time within a margin of 5%. The addition of arrows are used to simplify locates, along with the Guidance mode feature- our version of cruise control. The Wide Peak mode can be used in finding very deep cables.
The RD range has built-in safety features including:
Visual and audio warnings of shallow cables.
Dynamic overload protection which filters out any high KV lines in the area.
Power filters to establish if a single large power signal stems from one or multiple sources.
Peak antenna to identify lines leading both to and from a transmitter.
Enhanced self-test.
Devices have ingress protection IP65 for tough environments. The eCert calibration system enables remote calibration of equipment without any downtime. All devices come with a 3-year warranty, free on-site training, and free use of a loaner device for the system’s lifetime. C&S Solutions is the factory authorized repair facility for RD devices.
Flagshooter
Model #J316-2.0 (paint can holder included) and a box of 23” custom printed flags.
Making complex locates simpler
With utility infrastructures becoming more complex, locate professionals require more powerful tools to simplify the task of distinguishing between and tracing different utilities.
CD (Current Direction)
Identify your target amongst a number of parallel utilities by applying a specialized CD signal from the Tx-10 transmitter. CD arrows displayed on the locator confirm you are tracing your target.
Trace high-impedance utilities with 4 kHz
The 4 kHz locate frequency enables lines such as twisted pair telecoms or street lighting to be traced over longer distances. Since such utilities are often found in areas of dense infrastructure, you can combine 4 kHz with CD to improve trace accuracy.
Use Power Filters™ to pinpoint and discriminate between power cables
When a signal transmitter can’t be connected, tracing individual power lines through dense networks can be a real challenge. Conflicting or powerful signals confuse or combine to create a wash of signal.
A single key press uses the harmonic properties of power signals to establish if a signal comes from one source, or from multiple cables which you can then trace and mark.
Speed combined with accuracy – Peak+ Mode
Peak+ mode allows you to add either Guidance or Null locating to the accuracy of Peak mode.
- Adding Guidance gets you to the Peak position faster.
- Adding Null to Peak lets you check for the distortion caused by other utilities, spurs SideStep™ or interference.
Features to easily identify utilities and to track them with confidence:
Guidance Mode
Displays directional information alongside depth and current information to help both find the utility and ensure the correct target is being traced.
Peak+ Mode
Combines the accuracy of Peak locating with the rapid ground coverage of Guidance Mode. A single key press lets you check for distortion by comparing Null with Peak.
Power Filters™
Power industry models, (PLM and RD8100 models) exploit the harmonic properties of power signals to identify the presence of multiple cables and distinguish between them.
Customized Frequencies
Up to five additional frequencies can be programmed by the user to customise the RD8100 models to specific networks.
4 kHz locating with Current Direction
Enables mid-range tracing of high impedance lines such as twisted pair telecom lines or street lighting power cables (PDLM and PTLM models). Used in conjunction with CD, operators can be sure they are staying on the correct utility.
Supporting your business
Every locating operation needs to meet the continuing challenges of delivering on-time, high quality work and increasing value to customers.
Automatic usage-logging with GPS positioning
When equipped with GPS, Radiodetection RD8100 locators automatically capture key locate parameters every second, providing a comprehensive picture of individual locates and allowing you to assess usage patterns over extended periods.
The data generated can be used to ensure adherence to best-practice, or to identify training needs before poor work habits develop.
Additionally, the information can be used for internal audits or shared with partners or clients to evidence task completion, or compliance to service requirements.
Usage data can be exported in multiple file formats – for example KML for Google Maps to confirm where and when work was performed.
eCert™ – Remote calibration without downtime
Verify and certify the calibration of your locator over the internet using the RD Manager™ PC software package without returning the unit to a service center. Have confidence that the RD8100 is ready for action whenever you are.
CALSafe™
Choose to automatically enforce maintenance or lease schedules by providing a 30 day countdown before the calibration certificate expires.
Support when you need it
The RD8100 is backed with an industry leading 3 year warranty on registration. Our global sales and service network delivers comprehensive technical support and training tailored to your needs.
